About me: backstory and mission

  • by Enrico Baroni

A journey through engineering, the great outdoors and a love for Rome

A brief intro.

Photography, for me, is not just about images, it’s about creating something that feels deeply connected to a place.

In nature, this means working with scale to highlight the majesty of the landscape and our own sense of smallness within it.

In Rome, the challenge becomes the opposite: capturing the grandiosity of its architecture while seamlessly integrating the subject, giving it equal importance through elegant posing, natural movement and refined composition.

This contrast defines the way I see and create images: always searching for a balance between environment and human presence.

Who's behind the camera?

My name is Enrico, I’m a photographer, videomaker and drone pilot based in Rome.

Before fully dedicating my life to photography, I worked as a robotics and automation engineer in the renewable energy sector. It was a structured and stable path, but far from the creative direction I felt naturally drawn to.

Alongside that, I spent years traveling and photographing landscapes, developing a strong connection with the outdoors and a sensitivity to light, atmosphere and composition.

Over time, this passion evolved into professional work, leading me to collaborate with tourism boards, hotels and brands around the world.

Much of this work focused on capturing rugged landscapes, wild sceneries and destinations away from mass tourism, places where nature still feels raw and authentic, where humas are just brief visitors.

Eventually, I chose to leave engineering and pursue photography full-time. What followed was a gradual transition built through consistency and a clear creative vision.

Today I have over 8 years of experience in photography, including the last 4 years working professionally in Rome within the tourism industry.

The Rome Photo Tour Experience

Rome is a city I’ve come to know deeply over the years, not only through its landmarks, but through its light, its rhythms and the subtle differences between each neighborhood.

When I started focusing on photo tours here, I spent a long time studying what I could offer differently from the many photographers already working in the city. Rather than following a fast-paced, “stop-and-shoot” approach, I wanted to create something more structured, yet still natural and enjoyable.

This led me to design a series of carefully curated itineraries, built around a balance of visual variety, efficient walking distances and optimal light conditions. Each route connects locations that complement each other, combining iconic monuments with quieter corners, wide architectural scenes with more intimate backgrounds, allowing the experience to unfold smoothly without feeling rushed.

The pace is intentionally relaxed. There is time to walk, observe, adjust and capture each moment with care, rather than moving quickly from one spot to another.

Throughout the session, I guide you in a simple and natural way, helping you feel comfortable while paying close attention to composition, framing and background. The goal is to create images that feel effortless, while still being visually refined and thoughtfully constructed.

What emerges is not just a series of portraits, but a cohesive visual story shaped by the city, the light and your presence within it.
